Lt. Karin Murphy by Sinister-Scribe Lt. Karin Murphy by Sinister-Scribe
This is Karin Murphy, top dog in the Chicago PD's Special Investigations department.

From the Dresden Files.

Not the is it Connie Murphy of the television series who is tall, dark haired, dark eyed and has a kid.

This is tiny blonde haired, blue eyes freckle nosed Karin Murphy of the books...and she kicks ass when she's not being annoying.

um...aye, i'll do Harry when i can be bothered.

This is beautiful, you've really captured Murph completely in my opinion :) and thank you so much for doing the Murphy from the books. Have all from Storm Front to Skin Game and it broke my heart a little to see the TV series. Always been more of a book fan though so I wouldn't have been happy unless they'd totally nailed it :P The point is, you're clearly a very talented artist and I hope to browse more of your work soon :D 10/10!

Hah, thanks.

Yeah, I thought the TV show was rubbish. They missed the point entirely when it came to all of the things that made Dresden, Dresden. They didn't even give him the duster I mean come ON!

FINALLY! Murphy as she was MEANT to be! I love it. I imagined her with a more perky nose and semi punk haircut, but this is damn close.

i've actually done her with longer hair tied back in a knot in another pic, but i see her as the cop from Silent Hill but smaller.

in attitude as well as looks.

thanks for the comment.

...The TV Murphy has a kid? I knew there was a reason I didn't watch it, ew.

I really love your version of her, adorable, small and most importantly bad-ass. Now... (Clears throat) Murphy's got a girl gun. Murphy's got a girl gun. Murphy's got a girl gun!!
Sinister-Scribe Featured By Owner May 18, 2008
she has a girl gun because that was what was in the reference image that i use and, if you've seen the pitiful attempts at firearms in the rest of my gallery then you will know that i am totally naff at drawing the guns.

So i just had that one in there, is it a standard issue that she has in the book...?

I think so, she's a straightlaced cop and if you read the latest book WHY no harry/murphy WHYYYYYY???!!!

ahem, anyways, thanks for the comment.

Gah! I do not know why!! ... also why no Murphy+Sword pwnage?!

:/ I bet they'll get together at the end of the 'Epic Triology'.
Sinister-Scribe Featured By Owner May 19, 2008
'Epic Trilogy' what is this of which you speak?

yeah, i had money on the fact that Murphy would be able to make the sword go all glowy, but i knew she wouldn't take it either,. sort of ruins the dynamic between them if Murphy's working in the same 'world' as Harry. I think they need that contrast to make it interesting.

I was so sad about Michael though, major 'aaaaaw-age' on my part for the end bit,. though the helicopter with ride of the valkyrie playing once more just made my day.

Man i love those books, and book five of the Codex of Alera series is out in december!!

rawk on!!

sorry, fangirling over now.

I can't get in to the Codex Alera series. @_@; I miss the snarky commentary from Dresden too much, so I can't get through the style.

But yeah, epic triology. At the books signing for Small Favor I asked about how many books we could expect. He said about 20 then an epic triology. <3

I just totally did a happy dance around my mate's bedroom floor (where i happen to be sleeping at the moment). 20 books, i had no idea he planned on doing that many, i'd actually assumed that he'd started to wind down on it.

Yeah, the Codex series is very different and does have a stranger sense of humour but, plot wise, it is a lot more complex and in depth than the Dresden Files tends to be and there are still some truly FANTASTICAL scenes in it (the latest book had a scene with them swimming through Kraken infested waters and i was squeeing for the whole thing).

Sorry, fangirling AGAIN but i can't help it.

Insanely jealous that you met Jim Butcher.

ciao, Scribe.

yeah, they kind of ruined Murphy in the show. But whatever ;)

=D definitely a compliment to your artistic prowess.

I have a hard time visualizing all things artistic before they are on some tangible medium. This is what I had imagined her to be, though not really in an "image" sense but with my other senses. Her attitude, her damn cute little freckles.

Nice work!

I want to marry Murph.
Sinister-Scribe Featured By Owner Dec 9, 2007
any particular reason or should i take this as a compliment to my artistic prowess?

thanks for the comment bubs

I like it. I love the Dresden book series waaaaaaaay more than the tv show. This is really close to how I pictured her. Good Job ^^
Sinister-Scribe Featured By Owner Nov 30, 2007
why thank you

i keep telling folks that if they'd actually stuck to the book version of things then the tv series would have been more popular and not cancelled before they could even get to the second series...grrr...but now folks won't sit next to me on the bus anymore...sigh.

have you read the 'Codex of Alera' series by Mr Butcher himself?

tis more of an undiluted fantasy series than the dresden files is a contemporary, urban magic scene...if that made any sense then my meds HAVE kicked in.

yeah, so if you haven't read them then i would recommend (FOURTH ONE'S OUT THIS MONTH YAH BEBE!!)
